Mediterranean cuisine: Croatian hamburger stuffed with sheep’s cheese

The taste is original! Our grilled Croatian hamburger topped with sheep’s cheese will remind you of your last Mediterranean vacation. If you’ve never been there, you’ll definitely want to go there later.

Have you been to Croatia? If so, you know it, a grilled Croatian hamburger stuffed with sheep’s cheese. We have this popular classic recipe!

Ingredients for about 6 burgers:

  • 1 kg mixed minced meat (pork/beef)
  • 1 green onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 spoon of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable broth, as a powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika, hot as a rose
  • 200 g of feta cheese
  • Black pepper

Preparation time:

  • about 45 minutes (including 20 minutes grill time)

And here’s how it’s done:


  1. Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely. Mix well the minced meat and all the ingredients except the feta cheese. Leave in the fridge for about 10 minutes.
  2. Now pour the feta cheese and crumble it in a bowl. Remove the stuffing from the refrigerator. If the dough is too wet to mold, add a tablespoon of breadcrumbs.
  3. First, put four equal-sized oval patties on the food film. We put another piece of film on top of the cakes and flatten them. Spread the feta cheese in the middle and fold the patties.
  4. Flatten patties again before grilling. Brush both sides of the hamburger with oil and grill over medium-high heat for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Turn the hamburgers a few times on the grill.
